The Caldecote Curriculum
The curriculum represents the entire experience of the child within our school. It is anything that is planned and designed to improve pupils’ knowledge and skills.
At Caldecote, pupils access an enriched educational experience. The Caldecote Tree summarises what our curriculum encompasses in its entirety.

The Roots – Our school values: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.
These qualities underpin everything we do. Pupils are actively encouraged to develop and demonstrate these values and they are publicly celebrated in our celebration assembly each week. A strong understanding of and commitment to these values see us flourish with humility through times of success and hold us steadfast through times of challenge.
The Trunk – Our vision.
Our vision is at the heart of our curriculum. We seek to create happy, healthy citizens, who show resilience in the face of challenge and who strive to be the best version of themselves. This is encompassed by our motto: Happy, Healthy, High-Achieving.
The Branches – Our Personal Development and Wellbeing Offer.
We recognise that psychological safety, a sense of belonging and high self-esteem are critical to supporting good learning. Our Personal Development offer actively promotes and nurtures this; we want our pupils to grow into respectful, responsible and resilient people who aspire to become leaders of the future. We aim to develop pupils’ confidence and knowledge so that they can keep themselves mentally and physically healthy and develop a passion for people and our environment.
Our daily interactions with pupils support personal development in every aspect of school life, alongside a number of deliberately planned approaches.
The Leaves – Our Core Curriculum Offer.
Our core curriculum offer, based on the National Curriculum, is broad and balanced. Time is allocated for all subjects to be delivered with equity. It is carefully tailored to match the needs of pupils in alignment with our contextual information, our golden threads (Diversity and Culture) and our school values. Deliberate choices in the selection of our themes (e.g. stimulus and purpose for writing) and resources (e.g. book or text choice) create meaningful learning for our pupils in line with our golden threads.
The Fruit – Our Wider Curriculum Offer.
The rich, unique elements which enhance and enrich our curriculum. There is a diverse extracurricular menu of activities in place that is tailored to our context, and informed by our school community. This includes our unique Character Education '11 by 11 curriculum'. Pupils have access to a wide, rich set of experiences to develop their talents and interests.
