About Our School

Caldecote Primary is a small, one-form entry primary school, approximately six miles west of Cambridge. With a capacity of up to 210 pupils, we serve the local communities of Caldecote, Childerley, and surrounding villages. We work hard to create a warm environment that is 'a home away from home'. We seek to create a sense of belonging, where each child and their family in our community feel welcome and understood.

Our school is an integral part of the CB23 network; a hub that connects us with local schools to share expertise and best practises, and create opportunities for children to collaborate in exciting activities and competitive events. We actively foster strong, positive partnerships with Comberton Village and Cambourne Colleges, ensuring a seamless transition for our Year 6 pupils as they progress in their education. These relationships enrich our curriculum and provide pupils with enhanced learning opportunities, support networks, and a clear pathway for their academic and personal development within the wider educational community.

We are fortunate to have a wonderful natural environment that provides a rich and inspiring backdrop for learning. Our outdoor spaces—including a large field, woodland areas and natural habitats—offer opportunities to bring our commitment to sustainability to life in meaningful ways. We actively integrate our surroundings into the curriculum and daily school life, enabling pupils to develop a deep understanding of environmental care and climate responsibility.

Care Clubs— our before and after school and holiday provision— enhances our partnership with families and places us at the heart of the community. Our services provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment beyond the classroom, ensuring continuity of care and learning. By supporting parents’ diverse needs and offering pupils additional opportunities for social interaction, creative play, and personal development, our Care Clubs foster a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing. This extended provision strengthens community ties, promotes inclusive engagement, and reinforces our commitment to holistic support for every child and family connected to our school.

Our extensive curriculum enrichment offer, including our unique Character Education curriculum, is a cornerstone of our vision to nurture happy, healthy, and high-achieving pupils. This curriculum is thoughtfully designed to provide experiences to develop key character strengths by the time the children reach the age of 11, fostering pupils’ personal development alongside their academic progress. We enable them to discover new things that they can become interested in and passionate about; we play a part in creating the adults they will aspire to be and equipping them to thrive both within school and beyond.
