At Caldecote Primary School, we want children to develop confidence, curiosity and enjoyment in learning another language. Through our Spanish curriculum, pupils build their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills while developing an appreciation of the diverse cultures and traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. 

From Year 3 onwards, children learn Spanish through engaging, practical and meaningful activities. They gradually develop their vocabulary, grammar, phonics and conversational skills, enabling them to communicate with increasing confidence and independence. Pupils learn to talk about themselves, their families, hobbies, school and the wider world while exploring cultural differences and similarities between countries and communities. 

Our aim is for children to become enthusiastic language learners who are willing to take risks, communicate with others and develop a greater understanding of the world around them. By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils have a strong foundation in Spanish and the confidence to continue learning languages in the future.
