Eco and sustainability
At Caldecote Primary School, we are committed to nurturing environmentally conscious pupils who understand the importance of sustainability and their role as global citizens. Our Eco and Sustainability initiatives are designed to empower pupils with knowledge about climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable living, fostering a deep connection to the natural world.
Many of our Eco initiatives are led by our School Eco Council. Throughout the year, initiatives such as Waste Free Lunch Week and Switch Off Days help raise all pupils' awareness of the importance of being environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Each day, the Eco Council conduct their checks during lunch and other pupils are able to get involved. Pupils check lights are switched off when not needed, taps are off, the bins are being used correctly and computers are off when not being used. At the end of the half-term, data is collated, and a certificate is awarded to the class being most eco-friendly.
In addition to these, eco councillors are able to award eco points when they see pupils making good choices which benefit our environment.
