Pupil Leadership

At Caldecote Primary School we value the voice, thoughts and opinions of all our pupils. We believe in fostering a sense of responsibility, community, and active citizenship among our pupils. The School Council and Eco Council play vital roles in achieving this by providing structured opportunities for pupils to contribute to school life and promote positive change.

Each class nominates one pupil to be a member of the school council and one pupil to be a member of the Eco council. These pupils attend regular meetings to discuss key issues within the school and upcoming events. Following their meeting, they give feedback to their class, gathering further thoughts and opinions.

School Council:
The School Council empowers pupils to have a voice in the decisions that affect their daily school experience. It encourages leadership, collaboration, and democratic participation, helping pupils develop communication skills and a sense of ownership over their learning environment. The council gathers pupil views, represents their interests, and works with staff to improve school policies, activities, and wellbeing.

Eco Council:
The Eco Council focuses on promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the school community. Pupils involved lead initiatives to reduce waste, conserve energy, and enhance the school’s green spaces. This council nurtures pupils’ understanding of their role in protecting the planet, aligning with our vision of a healthy and engaged school community.

Together, these councils support our commitment to creating a happy, healthy, and high-achieving school where pupils are motivated, responsible, and actively engaged in shaping their school and community.
