Character Education
At Caldecote Primary School, we are proud to have established a comprehensive Character Education programme that provides pupils with valuable opportunities to explore and express their character while building essential life skills such as resilience, empathy, and employability.
Our Character Education curriculum is thoughtfully designed to broaden pupils’ experiences beyond the formal academic curriculum by nurturing key personal, emotional, and social qualities. It aligns closely with our school’s vision to be a happy, healthy, and high-achieving community, fostering attitudes, behaviours, and values that support pupils’ holistic development.
This bespoke programme offers a diverse range of responsibilities, experiences, and challenges that all pupils engage with throughout their time at Caldecote. Starting with the “5 by the age of 5” initiative in Reception and progressing to “11 by 11” in Year 6, these carefully selected experiences encourage pupils to build on prior learning year-on-year, ensuring continuous growth and development.
Our Character Education curriculum is enriched by the use of our vibrant local community and wider environment, providing meaningful opportunities such as watching something grow, going on treasure hunts, meeting community members, and climbing trees. These activities are purposefully linked to our diverse community and curriculum topics, helping pupils develop a strong sense of place and belonging.
We are extremely proud of our Character Education, which runs alongside our academic curriculum and actively promotes our core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience. This programme is integral to what makes Caldecote unique, supporting pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while preparing them to be confident, empathetic, and proactive citizens.
