Assemblies
At Caldecote Primary School, pupils have three assemblies per week.
On Monday, the whole school has a 'Broadening Horizons' assembly. On Wednesday or Thursday, each key stage has their 'My Actions, My Community, My Safety' assembly. We finish the week with a whole school 'Celebration' assembly. The rationale for each of these assemblies is listed below.
Broadening Horizons assembly
We want all children to:
1.Possess up to date knowledge on world news, important events and issues.
2.Learn about and understand the strengths and challenges of others (including protected characteristics).
3.Understand their rights, and express their feelings about current affairs, citing our school values (including British Values) and UNICEF’s ‘Articles of the child’.
4. Be seen, and to see themselves in good role models.
My Actions, My Community, My Safety assembly
We want all children to:
1.Develop the confidence to make safe, informed choices, recognising potential risks and knowing when and how to seek help.
2.Feel connected within their school and wider community, respected and valued. Appreciate their role, celebrate and embrace difference and learn about how to positively contribute to society.
3.Feel empowered to become active participants in their learning, relationships and wider world. Understand what actions they can take to ensure they are the healthiest, happiest and proudest versions of themselves.
4.Feel valued, supported, and connected, confident in their ability to lead healthy, balanced lives and become proud, high-achieving citizens.
Celebration assembly rationale
We want all children to:
- Feel celebrated and recognised for their achievements and positive behaviours.
- Recongised for their academic progress, extracurricular successes, and contributions to the school community.
- Feel valued and a sense of achievement
- By celebrating kindness and respect, the assembly fosters a positive school culture that nurtures supportive relationships and inclusivity.
- Recognising hardwork, resilience, and readiness encourages pupils to develop self-motivation, perseverance, and responsibility—key attributes for lifelong learning and personal growth.
