Our Broadening Horizons Assemblies are a key part of the wider Caldecote Curriculum, bringing our Curriculum Big Ideas to life through inspiring stories, people, places and experiences from around the world.

We want all children to:

1.Possess up to date knowledge on world news, important events and issues.

2.Learn about and understand the strengths and challenges of others (including protected characteristics).

3.Understand their rights, and express their feelings about current affairs, citing our school values (including British Values) and UNICEF’s ‘Articles of the child’.

4. Be seen, and to see themselves in good role models.

Through these assemblies, pupils explore themes such as Humankind, Environment, Creativity and Diversity, helping them to develop curiosity, empathy and a deeper understanding of the world beyond their immediate experiences.

By broadening perspectives and celebrating different cultures, achievements and ideas, these assemblies encourage children to think critically, value difference and aspire to make a positive contribution to society.
