English as an Additional Language
Caldecote is proud of its diverse and vibrant community, where many pupils speak English as an Additional Language (EAL). These children bring a wealth of strengths, including rich cultural experiences, strong first-language skills and a global perspective that enhances learning for all. We recognise bilingualism as a valuable asset and celebrate and promote the continued learning of a first language.
Staff are trained to ensure access to a broad and balanced curriculum for all learners. Where English proficiency is developing as a second language, pupils are supported through a nurturing, inclusive approach, offering targeted language development, visual and contextual learning strategies, and close collaboration with families.
Across the school, we celebrate the wide range of nationalities and languages represented, it is a strength of our school.
