Parental engagement opportunities

We believe that parents have a crucial role in helping their child to learn by working in partnership with teachers. We aim to include parents in all aspects of school life, through the following opportunities:

  • Weekly parent newsletters, including weekly forthcoming dates communication.
  • Regular polls, surveys and feedback opportunities, via the parent newsletter
  • Welcome Wednesdays – monthly opportunities to come into class at drop-off with your child.
  • School in Action Afternoons – a termly invitation to participate in hands-on learning activities with your child
  • Annual parent survey to gain parental voice in all aspects of school life
  • Parent workshops to share teaching and learning strategies, knowledge and assessment procedures
  • Written pupil progress reports are issued annually in the summer term, and parent consultations are held twice over the academic year – in the autumn and spring term.
  • Meet The Teacher events are held as part of the transition process for all year groups.
  • Coffee mornings with Senior Leaders (Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher/SENDCo) to develop working relationships and discuss matters important to parents.
  • Parent working group – half-termly meetings to progress on key SDP priorities identified from parent surveys.
  • Parent and child lunch – the opportunity for parents to attend their child's first lunchtime at Caldecote in Reception class.
