Performing arts

Annual performances

At Caldecote Primary School, we believe that participating in performances is a valuable and enriching experience for all pupils. Through performances, all pupils have the opportunity to:

  1. Build Confidence and Self-Esteem
Performing in front of an audience helps pupils develop confidence in expressing themselves and their talents. This boosts their self-esteem and encourages them to take pride in their achievements.

  2. Develop Communication and Social Skills
Performances require teamwork, listening, and cooperation, which help pupils build strong communication and social skills. These are essential for their overall personal development and future success.

  3. Celebrate Creativity and Talent
Performances provide a platform for pupils to showcase their creativity, whether through singing, acting, dancing, or playing instruments. It allows them to celebrate their unique talents and hard work.

  4. Enhance Learning and Engagement
Engaging in performances supports the curriculum by deepening pupils’ understanding and enjoyment of subjects such as music, drama, and English. It makes learning active, memorable, and fun.

  5. Foster a Sense of Community
Performances bring together pupils, families, and staff, creating a shared sense of achievement and community spirit. Celebrating successes together strengthens the positive, supportive environment we value at Caldecote.

These performances are shared with the rest of the school and pupils' families.

In December, our Key Stage One classes take part in a Christmas production.

In Spring Term, our Year 3 and 4 classes participate in a shared assembly where they showcase work from different curriculum areas. This can include reciting poetry, performing a song or dance, sharing art projects or discussing research.

During the summer term, years 5 and 6 close the year with a great production.

Talent Show

In addition to the above performances, the Caldecote Talent Show has become a permanent fixture in our summer schedule. All pupils are welcome to perform their talent for their class. Then, pupils themselves choose the final two acts from their class to perform in front of the whole school. This is a wonderful opportunity for pupils to showcase their skills, talents and passions to their peers and the school community.
