Art and Design

At Caldecote Primary School, we believe that every child is an artist. Our Art and Design curriculum inspires pupils to express themselves creatively while developing a wide range of artistic knowledge, skills and techniques. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, collage and digital art, children learn to experiment, create and refine their ideas using sketchbooks as a tool for exploration and reflection.

Throughout their journey from Reception to Year 6, pupils study the work of a diverse range of artists, designers and craftspeople from different cultures, time periods and artistic traditions. They learn how art reflects and shapes history, culture and identity, while developing the confidence to discuss, evaluate and celebrate their own work and that of others.

Our curriculum encourages curiosity, imagination and resilience, enabling children to become confident creators who can communicate ideas, emotions and experiences through art. By the time they leave Caldecote, pupils have developed both technical artistic skills and a lifelong appreciation of creativity and the visual arts.
